Official 2020 Tour of Good Hope Route Reveal

5 Days | 5 Stages | 530km | 5300m Vertical Ascent

– DAY 1 –
A late’ ish start on Monday from Bridge House will see riders turn towards their first challenge 10km from the start. Riders will ride through the majestic Franschhoek valley and then take on the famous Franschhoek pass, then it is a straight shot towards the Western Cape’s main water source, the Theewaterskloof Dam. From here the race will make its way through Villiersdorp and the outskirts of Worcester and conclude in Rawsonville
– DAY 2 –

Time trial Tuesday!
45 km Individual and Team Time Trial –  Riders will circumnavigate the Slanghoek mountain before returning to Rawsonville where Goudini High will once again play host for a second day.
– DAY 3 –

Day 3 sees riders take on the infamous De Toits Kloof pass, after leaving Rawsonville you are met with a fairly lengthy neutral zone before reaching the foot of the pass. A 6% average gradient will see riders climb all the way to the top of Du Toits Kloof, unlike previous years, the race carries on to Wellington, via Paarl, and Riebeeck Kasteel. Riders will ascend the short but steep Bothmanskloof pass and finish at the Boland Landbou School, host of the 2019 tour.
– DAY 4 –
The Queen Stage returns for another year. A Long, challenging and steep stage! Riders will once again take on the infamous Bainskloof pass from both directions. Stage 4 takes participants along the familiar “Slaghoek Loop” and then along the Witte River making their way back up the gorge into the pass for round 2. The stage concludes with riders returning to the Boland Landbou School again.
– DAY 5 –
“Short but not so sweet”
The final stage will start in the town of Paarl and head out to Stellenbosch and tackle the steep Hellshoogte Pass climb. From here it’s down back into the Franschhoek valley (of stage 1) and a return to Paarl, with a special saluting to our former president Nelson Mandela, as they pass Drakenstein Prison on there way to the finale of the tour. It’s a steep short climb, on tired legs but the taste of the finish will pull any rider over the line!
